John "Ted" Theodore Decker

Corpus Christi, Tx

John " Ted" Theodore Decker was born on May 20, 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia and went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Decker and Winifred Eberman, sister, Melanie Decker Cleary and son, John T. Decker., Jr. Ted served six years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, serving on the USS Savannah, out of Norfolk, Virginia (March 18,1976 - March 18,1982). As a child he served in the Catholic church as an Altar boy. He also volunteered at the Monastery of Poor Clare Nuns helping with construction, feeding the many animals and other general maintenance. He remained active in the local church and most recently was a member of the Men's Acts Retreat. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and hunting, especially with his grandchildren. He was an important figure in the lives of

Nicholas and Jesse Brasher and Mark Aleman. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sara, his children, Amy and Martin

of Portland, Tx, Christina of Houston and Justin of San Antonio, sisters, Winnie (Keith)  of Oklahoma, Dolores of Port Aransas, and Charles (Stephanie) of Brownwood, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11 AM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi,Tx.
