Edith Jeanette Hendley
Edith Jeanette Hendley, 89, went to her heavenly home on July 1, 2024. Jeanette was born on October 6, 1934, in Sinton, Texas to Julius and Bessie Dyer. She attended Sinton High School and in 1953, married her husband, Orville "Red" Hendley. Together they began a family and raised four children. Jeanette was baptized as a young teenager in the Baptist church and in later years attended the Sinton Church of Christ. In 1968, she began a long career with HEB and retired after 29 years of loyal service. Jeanette loved the outdoors and after retirement, she spent countless hours pursuing one of her favorite hobbies, gardening. Most days you would find her tending the flower beds and potted plants in her beautiful yard. Many evenings were spent on the patio drinking lemon iced tea and cooking bar-b-que with friends and family. Jeanette loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and would travel near and far to watch them compete. She enjoyed baking and would often make cakes and pies to give to others especially during the holidays. The love of travelling took her to such places as Spain and Alaska, as well as other scenic destinations such as Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, and all the national parks in the western U.S.. Jeanette had a love for antiques and appreciated the beauty and history behind the pieces she had in her home.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Johnson, and her grandson, Wesley Phillips.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Orville Hendley; her children: Linda Phillips and husband Larry, Brinda Jones and husband Ray, Stacy Hendley and wife Shannon, and Tracy Hendley; grandchildren: Taylor Phillips, Meagan Hawthorn, Denton Fromme, Deret Fromme, and Kyle Hendley; her brother, Joe Dyer; her sister, Donna Rogers and husband Tim; plus 9 great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Jeanette's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all that were fortunate enough to have known her.
