Alyssa Procela Yglesias
Alyssa Procela Yglesias, also known as Mary Alice, gained her wings on February 19, 2026. Alyssa was remarkable. She was a member of the Sacrament of the Holy Order of the Eucharist of St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas; a Cruisillista, and a Catechism teacher for many years. She was a playwriter, who wrote “Our Lady of Guadalupe” play for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton, Texas. She was also in the Bicentennial Parade as a contestant in 1975. Alyssa was also a contestant in the Sinton Fiddlers Fest and won 2nd place for her wonderful tamales.

Alyssa was an Author, she wrote a book about Herbs in English and their Spanish surnames, she also wrote stories about her family which made her a published author when her story was featured by the San Patricio County Paper. She was very talented and kept herself busy. She made quilts, sewed, created craft projects, made jewelry, crocheted, told jokes, loved to sing, and had a great passion for cooking. She loved planting, yearly gardening, taking care of her plants, and her beloved dog Jady Yglesias. Alyssa had a beautiful sense of humor and wanted everyone around her to feel happy and loved.

She loved life and always said it, “Life is meant to be lived”, and that she did.
​
Alyssa is survived by her daughter and best friend, Jacqueline Sylvia Guerra; her sisters, Evangelina Yglesias and Olga Yglesias Pina. Her great friend and ex-husband, David Allan Niccum; her grandchildren, Darren (Stephanie) DeAses, Valerie Diaz, and Austin Deleon; her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Nathen, Aceen, Truly DeAses, Madeline Diaz, and Cameron (Amaya) DeAses; and her great-great grandchild Atlas DeAses; her nieces, Iris (Frederick) Medina, Yvonne (Tony) Torres; her great-nephew, Ryan Torres; and her great-niece, Emma Medina.

She is preceded in death by her ex-husband Donaciano Martinez Guerra; her father, Julius Ceasar Carrio; her parents, Emma and Francisco B. Yglesias; and her great-nephew, Derrek Anthony Edward Torres.
​
A rosary will be recited on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Sinton. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23rd, 2026. Intermittent will follow at Sinton Cemetery.
