In Loving Memory of Clarence Donald “Don” Higgins Jr.

Clarence Donald Higgins Jr., known to most as Don, passed away at age 54 in the early morning hours of September 24, 2026, in Ingleside on the Bay, Texas. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Don lived with strength, humor, and a loving heart.

Don served in the United States Marine Corps in his early years and carried that identity with him for the rest of his life. “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” was a conviction he lived by. He continued his service through his work with the Department of Defense, retiring in 2026.

Those who knew Don knew he was goofy, fun, and loving, always quick with a laugh, a mischievous grin, and a story that could make everyone in the room smile. He also had a backbone of principle and did not tolerate nonsense from anyone. He comforted and steadied those around him with a simple, steady reassurance: “It’ll be alright.” Those words now hold a special place in the hearts of the people who loved him and will forever be cherished.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Higgins, and his father, Clarence Higgins Sr. He is survived by his mother, Melba Higgins; sister, Lisa (Jimmy); seven children, Jonathan (Arla), Chase, Carrington, Mandi (Aaron), Steven (Brittany), Michael (Katie), and Michael (Meagan); and his seven grandchildren who were a constant source of joy and pride.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to ATEX Hospice, especially Dezi, Crystal, Sandra, and Adam, for the compassion, care, and support they provided during his final days.

He asked to be remembered with laughter rather than sorrow. In keeping with Don’s wishes, his family will honor him with a Celebration of Life, with “no tears allowed.” It will be a time to share stories, and for Don to be celebrated by those who loved him for his humor, his loyalty, and the way he made ordinary moments feel memorable. Details will be announced at a later date.

Don leaves his family with countless memories, love that endures, and a few words to hold close when they need them most: “It’ll be alright.”
