Steven "Smitty" Smith, 74, passed away on Tuesday,  April 21, 2026 peacefully with is loving family by his side.  Steven was born November 19, 1951 in Bakersfield, California to Lola Imogaene Wherry. Steven was a gas compressor mechanic.  He liked working on cars, fishing, hunting, he loved to barbecue and, most of all, loved

spending time with his loving wife and grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lola and brother Mike.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Lucia Blanco-Smith of Sinton, his stepdaughter, Rachel Gill of San Antonio, and his stepson, Lupe Torres of Sinton.  He is also survived by his grandkids, Joshua (Marissa) Flores, Christopher ( Cassie Farias) Flores, Abigail Flores, Nicholas (Adrianna) Alvarez, Nichole Alvarez, Rita Gill, Ricardo         (Crystal) Gill , Thomas (Teresa) Gil, Tiffany Clyne, Jose Lopez, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 4 p.m. to          9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Ritchea-Gonzales 

Funeral Home.  Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday,       April 25, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton.

Interment will follow in the John J. Welder Cemetery in St Paul with military honors.
