Maria C. Gutierrez, 92; loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on Sunday,

April 6, 2025.  Maria loved working in her garden, cooking, taking care of her grandchildren, and playing Bingo.  She was a devout Catholic and was very active in her church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas and a Cursillista.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Gutierrez and her son, Gustavo Gomez.  She is survived by her loving family; her son, Gabriel Gomez Jr. of Corpus Christi; her daughters, Baudelia (Frank) Bargas of Odem, Concepcion (Richard) Barrera of Odem, Janie (C.J.) Edwards of Corpus Christi, Debra Serrano of Odem, and Elia Hernandez of Corpus Christi; her brother, Claudio Castro of Lansing, Michigan; and her sister, Elvira Trevino of Mathis; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at

9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem with Father George as celebrant. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus 

Christi.  We would like to give a special Thank You to her caregivers, Irma Bargas Munoz, Theresa Ortiz, Elida Torres, Maggie Gonzales, Maria Sanchez, Janie Lara, and Christina Hinojosa.  We would also like to give a special Thank You to Tribute Hospice and Palliative Care for their support... we would like to especially thank Amy (nurse) and Sally (CNA) for the wonderful job they did caring for our mother.
