Estella Calderon Silva, 64, passed away on February 24, 2025, with her family by her side.  

 

Estella was born May 27, 1960, in Mathis to Raymunda and Manuel Calderon.  In 1979, she graduated from Odem High School with her best friend and future sister-in-law, Alice Redgate.  After falling in love, Estella married Richard Silva Jr., who brought his two daughters Roxanne and April into their lives before they gave birth to Richard Silva III.  She was a dedicated housewife, a patient mother, an amazing grandmother, and a great friend to everyone who crossed her path.  Estella loved to sit on the porch and listen to music with her husband as they fed the birds and watched them in their birdbath. 

She is survived by her husband, Richard Silva Jr; her children, Richard Silva III, Roxanne Silva, and April Silva; her grandchildren, Eliana Silva Mascorro, Alfonso Bucio Jr, Marisol Bucio, and Yasmine Bucio; her brothers, Joe Calderon and Manuel Calderon Jr; her niece, Marina Zapata; and her uncle, Joe Rosas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymunda Calderon and Manuel Calderon; as well as her siblings, Danny Calderon and Janie Zapata. 

Estella will be remembered for her bright, warm smile and the love and care she provided to everyone as she made them feel like family. 

Funeral Services were held this Wednesday, February 26 at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home and the committal service was held the next day at the Edroy Cemetery.
