Florentino G. Garza, 85, of Odem, Texas died on October 25, 2025.

He was born in Goliad, Texas to parents, Julian and Genoveva G.

Garza.  He attended school in Odem, Texas, where he played 

football for the Owls.  He attended school until the 11th grade.  He

left school to work with his father and brother as a ranch hand

near Odem.  He traveled to West Texas to run the cotton gins during

cotton seasons for several years.

He was married to Juanita (Janie) for 66 years.  They were married on January of 1959 at Sacred Heart of  Odem, Texas.  He was elected as Constable, Precinct No.2, San Patricio County in November of 1978 for an unexpired term.  He completed a course at Del Mar College for Criminal investigation.  He was a Constable for 20 years until he retired from service.

Florentino (Tino) was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and

Genoveva; his brother, Estaban; and his sister, Cruzita. He is survived

by his wife, Juanita (Janie) Garza; two daughters, Mary Alice (Edward) Mata, and Anitta (Gilbert, Jr.) Garza; three sons,

David (Virginia) Garza, Florentino, Jr. (Cynthia) Garza and

Danny (Janie) Garza; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem with Father Pete Elizardo as celebrant.  Interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery in Odem.
