Jason McGrath
Jason Scott McGrath, a disabled veteran and resident of Portland, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025 at the age of 54 after a brief illness. Jason was born on January 23, 1971 in Poughkeepsie, New York. He was a loving father and husband. He is proceeded in death by his father Jeffry McGrath Sr.; his son Ian McGrath; and his father-in-law, Santiago Serna. He is survived by his wife Betty McGrath; his son, Aaron McGrath; his mother, Carol Westover McGrath; his sisters, Donna McGrath, Dawn (Tom) O'Connell, and brother, Jeffry McGrath Jr. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ernestina Serna; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Susana) Serna and Raymond (Sharon) Serna; sisters-in-law, Rosie (Domingo) Cardenas and Mary Jane (Lupe) Alonzo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jason served honorably in the U.S. Navy Seabees for eight and a half years. After his service, he became a journeyman electrician with the IBEW Local 363 and worked for various electrical and construction companies in Poughkeepsie and New York City, New York and Sinton ISD. He was a gifted guitarist, musician, and artist as well. Jason will be remembered for his exceptional sense of humor and willingness to help anyone in need.

A celebration of life and funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 12-9 with a rosary at 7 PM at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton, Texas.
