Jesus P. Soliz Jr. (PeeWee)
Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend
Jesus P. Soliz Jr., lovingly known as "Peewee," passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on July 8, 2025 surrounded by his loved-ones. Born in Lenz, Texas; Jesus was the son of Jesus Soliz Sr. and Manuela Perales. A proud graduate of Odem High School, Class of 1959, he went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force. He built a long and dedicated career with Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked for 35 years. Jesus was an active member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and served for many years as Secretary of Treasury. He was also a devout Catholic of the Sacred Heart Church of Odem.

Known for his generous heart and strong work ethic, Jesus was deeply involved in his community and loved nothing more than being outdoors. He took great pride in working in his yard and was always happy to mow his son's lawn as well. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends. One of his greatest joys in later years was spending time with his loyal dog, Scooby, who never left his side.

Jesus was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Soliz Sr.; his mother, Manuela Perales; sisters, Paula O'Canas and Rufina Perez; brother, Roberto Soliz; grandson, Markus Salinas; and his beloved son, Rolando G. Soliz. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Dora G. Soliz; sons Jesus (Christina) Soliz III of Odem, and Eduardo Soliz of San Antonio; granddaughters Rosie Soliz and Alexis Soliz; grandson Stevie Barrera; great-grandson Sabastian Rolando Aguilar; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Jesus P. Soliz Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his service to his country, and the warmth and laughter he brought to all who knew him. The pallbearers are Javier Garcia, Joel Perales, Michael Ruiz, Albert Ruiz, Frankie Melendez, Julio Quintanilla with Manuel Rivera serving as honorable pallbearer.

A visitation will be held at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 with a holy rosary being recited at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday,
July 11, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Odem. The interment will follow at San Pedro Cemetery with Military honors.
