Jose Carlos Casas, 67, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 12, 1958, and was raised in Odem, Texas. Jose later made his home in Pasadena, Texas, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and friendship.

 

Jose dedicated many years to working in the chemical plants, a career he took great pride in. He deeply valued his coworkers and formed lasting friendships throughout his years on the job. Known for his incredible work ethic and strength, Jose was especially proud of staying physically fit. Even at 67 years old, he was always ready to challenge anyone to a few push-ups with a smile and a laugh.

Outside of work, Jose's favorite pastime was cruising in his truck, enjoying the open road, jamming his music and spending time with those he loved. He had a generous heart and was always looking after others, showing his love through his actions and unwavering support. His kindness, humor, and caring spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

​

Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa Casas; his birth parents, Serapio Casas and Sofia Flores; the parents who lovingly raised him, Gregorio Rocha and Isabel Rocha; his brother, Juan Casas; and his sister-in-law, Lucia Casas.

 

He is lovingly survived by his children, Carlos Casas and Jennifer Casas; his son-in-law, Jacob Perez; his grandchildren, Autumn Melendez, Charlie Lilley, and Layla Perez; and his great-grandchildren, Lilly Melendez and Jojo Melendez.

 

He is also survived by his devoted sisters, Maria Louisa Garcia and Anita Payton.

 

Jose shared his later years with his partner, Mary Sanchez, and embraced her family as his own. He is survived by his bonus children: Esmerelda Sanchez, Gabriel Sanchez, Leticia Sanchez, Brandy Ramos, and Jessica Garcia; along with his bonus grandchildren: Leo, Jocelyn, Sophia, Emmanuel, Zoe, Dominic, Aubrey, Ariel, Marcus, Davian, Isaac, and Isaiah.

 

Jose was also dearly loved and supported by his niece, Amber Casas-Leal, and her family, Abel Leal and Emily Leal, who held a special place in his heart.

 

Jose will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, generosity, and the genuine love he shared with family and friends. He lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, and compassion, always putting others before himself. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
