Jose Zuniga Sr., 66, passed away on February 3, 2026 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  He was born on April 29, 1959 in Sinton, Texas.

Jose is now reunited in eternal rest with his beloved mother, Lucia D. Zuniga, and his sister, Janie Z. Diaz.

​

Jose enjoyed listening to classic rock, rock, and oldies music.  He loved watching movies, WWE, and football.  One of his favorite pastimes was cruising around town and going to the stores.  Above all, Jose treasured time spent with his family—playing with his grandchildren and enjoying their company, which brought him the greatest joy.

​

He is survived by his loving wife, Antonia Fonseca Zuniga, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.  He also leaves behind his children: Joe Zuniga Jr. of Corpus Christi, Alice Avalos of Corpus Christi, and Toni Salazar of Beeville.  Jose was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to twenty-eight great-grandchildren.  He was also loved by his stepdaughter, Laura Silvas of Corpus Christi.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.

​

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sinton, Texas, with Father Glenn Mullan as celebrant. Interment will follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.
