Luis Raymundo DeLeon

Luis Raymundo DeLeon, died peacefully January 25, 2026, with his sister Ernestina and his daughter Beatriz by his side.

Ray, also known as ‘Lelo’ by his friends and family, was born on August 14th, 1948 in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Ray and Amalia (Mana) DeLeon.  He grew up in Ecorse, Michigan and shortly after graduation enlisted in the US Army.

Lelo grew up traveling to Taft, Texas with family and in the late 1970s, he decided to call Texas his other home. Although Lelo loved the valley, he enjoyed traveling home to Michigan to visit with family and friends.

Lelo could put a smile on everyone’s face without even trying. He was a free spirited, unconventional man who lived life to its fullest, on his own terms. He enjoyed traveling back to Michigan to spend time with his family and friends.

Above all he loved his family, his dogs, and the Detroit Lions.
Lelo leaves behind a legacy of generosity, a unique zest for life, and a style of wit and humor unparalleled by most. He will be greatly missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ray and Amalia (Mana) DeLeon and his older brother, Raymundo Deleon (1946) and younger sister, Beatriz Velia DeLeon (1956).  He is survived by his three children, Beatriz Fields, Luis Deleon, and Estella Garcia; his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jordan, Raquel, Nickolas, Oliver and Xander; his loving sisters, Adilia (Juan) Garcia and Ernestina DeLeon; his nieces, Rebecca (John) Davila and Rachel (Efrain) Maldonado along with his great-nephew and great-nieces EJ, Madelyn, Mateo, and Isabella.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Texas and Michigan.
