Maria Luz Perez Montalvo, 88, of Sinton, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 2nd, 1937, in Abilene, Texas, to the late Ricardo and Herlinda Perez.

Affectionately known as Mama Lucy, Maria devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.  She lovingly raised six children and took great pride in caring for her family.  She found joy in life’s simple pleasures – sewing, tending to her garden and plants, and preparing home-cooked meals that filled her home with warmth and comfort.  Her nurturing spirit, quiet strength, and steady presence were the heart of her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Herlinda Perez; her siblings, Leno Perez, Estevan Perez, Richard Perez, Jr., Chinto Perez, Maria Perez, Antonia Rangel, Francis Rodriguez, and Anita Mancias; and her daughter-in-law, Andrea Montalvo.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Francisco Montalvo; her children, Sylvia Ricketts of Pulaski, Tennessee, Irma (Ruben) Serrano of Sinton, Texas, Diana Montalvo of Sinton, Texas, Roland Montalvo of Portland, Texas, Mario (Marcella) Montalvo of Victoria, Texas, and Abel Montalvo of Sinton, Texas.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Chencho and Rosa (Raul); and her sister-in-law, Yolanda Montalvo.

Maria Luz Perez Montalvo leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and family.  Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jaden, Rylen, Jeremiah G.,

Jeremiah M., William, and Dominic.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2026 from

3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 6th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sinton, Texas with Father Yul Ibay Officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Rest Cemetery.
