Ocelia Torres
Ocelia C. Torres, 88, loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother died after an illness on Saturday, March 21, 2026, peacefully at her home at 1014 US Hwy 181 in Taft, Texas. She was
born in Santa Rosa, Texas. With an eighth grade education, she worked alongside her husband, having several successful commercial businesses. A catholic woman with lots of spice and can do attitude was loved and admired by her entire family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Merced G. Torres and her children, Rose Ann, Jose, and Henry Torres. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Louisa Perez Cuellar of Sarita, Texas.

She leaves behind her children, Jesus J. Torres from Refugio, Adolfo (Lucy) Torres from Woodsboro, Maria Guadalupe (Israel) Martinez, Maria Esperanza (Arturo) Longoria, and Maria Estella (Raul)
Longoria all of Taft; as well as her sisters, Lydia (Macario) Luis of Corpus Christi and San Juana Lerma of Refugio, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Taft with Father Peter Thenen as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lamas Memorial Park in Taft. The family will be gathering
at the Parish Hall after the mass and burial.​​​​​​
