In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rafaela Villarreal Fernandez, who left us peacefully on April 26, 2025 at the age of 94.  Rafaela was a beloved member of the community, cherished by family and friends alike.  Born on July 14, 1930 in Abram, Texas; Rafaela was the child of Rafael & Tomasa Villarreal.  She grew up in a loving and nurturing environment, along with her sister Anita.  Rafaela married Leonel Fernandez, her husband of 71 years, and together they built a family filled with love and joy.  Their children, Leonel Fernandez Jr., Grace (Steven) Yoakum, Alma Fernandez, Linda (Brian) Falls, and Elizabeth (Raymond) Cavazos were the pride and joy of Rafaela's life.  Rafaela was a devoted partner and parent, always putting family first. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and attending church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leonel Fernandez; her daughter, Sara Lee Fernandez; her sister, Anita Villarreal; and her parents, Rafael and Tomasa Villarreal.  She leaves behind eight wonderful grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  A private family memorial service will be held on May 4th, 2025.  Pall Bearers will be: Luis Cavazos, Matthew Yoakum, Seth Yoakum, Jacob Yoakum, Adrian Cavazos, Mason Yoakum, and William Falls.

Though Rafaela is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of loving memories that will continue to shape the lives of many. Rest in peace Rafaella and thank you for all the joy you brought into our lives.
